I have heard that the different Harry Potter editions have slightly different content(some have got some extra lines). Is it really true?

off course there are some diffrence, while draco malfoy made dumbledore unarmed.there are some missing lines at UK edition which are following as-But this is the same passage from the American edition -:
He told me to do it or he'll kill me. I've got no choice." "He cannot kill you if you are already dead. Come over to the right side Draco, and we can hide you more completely than you can possibly imagine. What is more, I can send members of the Order to your mother tonight to hide her likewise. Nobody would be surprised that you had died in your attempt to kill me -- forgive me, but Lord Voldemort probably expects it. Nor would the Death Eaters be surprised that we had captured and killed your mother -- it is what they would do themselves, after all. Your father is safe at the moment in Azkaban...When the time comes we can protect him too. Come over to the right side, Draco...you are not a killer..." Malfoy stared at Dumbledore.
but following lines are missing at UK ADDITION-
He cannot kill you if you are already dead.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Nobody would be surprised that you had died in your attempt to kill me -- forgive me, but Lord Voldemort probably expects it. Nor would the Death Eaters be surprised that we had captured and killed your mother -- it is what they would do themselves, after all.

There is a change from the diferent versions. There are adult versions and the childrens version. You can tell the difference in the books by there covers. The childrens books have cartoon covers and the adult versions have a realistic picture on the frone. In the childrens versionshe would write something like"Ron walked away mumbling something under his breath" but the adult version includes the words Ron used which are not approprate for children! Both versions are great but the adult version includes more detail.

I think that the UK and the US versions differ very slightly. In the English version, there are some terms used which Americans might have found hard to understand, so they simply changed a few words.

There is a few changes made in the US version from the UK version - however, nothing that would change the outcome or plot of the book. Simply changing it from "English" to "American".
