Find the lowest common denominator, that is 12.

Now, put 12 down & a line above it.

12ths is the fraction that all of these can be expressed in.
1/6 = 2/12
2/3 = 8/12
1/4 = 3/12

Then you can add 2/12ths + 8/12ths + 3/12ths

which is 13/12ths, expressed as 1 & 1/12
Anwer: one & one twelth.

the denominators here are 6,3,4.
first find their LCM, which is 12.
then convert each fraction into an equivalent fraction with 12 as denominator.
1/6 x 2/2 = 2/12
2/3 x 4/4 = 8/12
1/4 x 3/3 = 3/12
now all three fractions are having the same denominator,
so we just add the numerators:
2/12 + 8/12 + 3/12
=(2 +8 +3) / 12
=13 /12

the common term of the denominator is 24
so convert all to 24, you will have 4/24 + 16/24 + 6/24 = 26/24 or 1 2/24 or 1 1/12
