WPA is an ecnryption method for wireless network connections. There are essetially 3 levels of encryption:
- None at all
- WEP
- WPA

None at all is bad. WEP is better than none at all, but not great (is easily broekn with tools freely available on the internet). WPA is much better than WEP. There is also now WPA-2 which is better again. Always use the best that your equipment supports. (Older equipment may not support WPA).

It's an enhanced encryption method (better than WEP).
