I want my computer to run faster. I was told that through the task manager I can see what's running in my background. I don't know what to keep and what to get rid of.

it's your start-up you want to look at... go into start, go to run, type msconfig, and go to start-up then unchecked any programs you don't want use or run

Juat be careful and don't turn off something that windows needs. Also, some startup items may not show in task manager, a program like sysinfo offers will dig much deeper.

Get security task manager. You can google it and find it. You can use it to do a web search for each process you have and find info on it. Also it can hide/show windows processes you should leave alone.

if u are a noob to the runnigns of computers LEAVE IT ALONE!!! however...if u still want to know.. make a list of what all is running in the background and then google each item .. it will tell u what u can remove and what CAN'T..but let me warn u this...u remove the wrong item and ur computer will REBOOT loosing everything u are working on ...

For the most part leave the items in the "Processes" tab alone, you can safely kill any application in the "Applications" tab.

Keep only what you're using and 'end task' anything 'not responding'.
