My gay brother's birthday is coming up and I'm redecorating his flat for him as a surprise while he's overseas working. Would really like to hang a large male nude in his bedroom. Possibly a drawing?
Don't have a huge budget so up to around £50.

ok,soundskind of obvious but i do actually know him extremely well and wouldn't be buying him one if I didn't know he'd love it. As for it being 'tacky'-hence the request for a tasteful drawing,rather than a poster from 'Boys'!

There is a very tasteful image of a nude and 'just-plump' woman with red hair at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, NY. The artwork is called: Planes by Colors, Large Nude (Plans par couleurs, grand nu) The artwork was created by Frantisek Kupka Whilst there are other more well known artists from earlier time periods who had nude women as their subjects. This image is much more left of centre in its approach to a nude painting - which i absolutely love.

Check out works by the photographers Robert Mapplethorpe and Howard Schatz. You can possibly get some at www.allposters.com. If not put their names into a search engine. There may be something on ebay that will suit.

why dont you go to the local library find the photography section look up and source out the best photo you require, take a photo copy of it then get it enlarged at a commecial copy shop, it wont cost a fortune and you will get a photo you want. regards LF

have a look for robert mapplethorpe online at some of the art sites / poster galleries... he has some extremely tastful male nudes.... (er.. he also has some which aren't.. be careful!)

Why don't you draw one up? It'll be much better, giving your own handiwork to your brother. He'll weep until the whole room's flooded.

make sure HE wants a nude male picture in his room first.
It is really kinda tacky.
If someone redecorated my place while I was away, I would be SO pissed off.
What an invasion of privacy!
You are telling him he has bad taste, you are better than he, you control HIS living space... on and on.
I wouldn't do it if I were you!

I wouldn't suggest it. He might think you're making fun of him. try tasteful art from a commercial art gallary.

do a yahoo image search.. find a wallpaper size one. and edit it by putting comments on it etc.. then print it out....
