It happens sometimes. It's no big deal. Alot of times women will get loose stools a couple days before labor. Cleans it all out ya know. At the hospital, they will probably cath you. They just take i tiny(i mean tiny) tube and put it in your pee pee hole to drain your bladder so you don't pee. You don't even feel it at that point. I did pee on my doc once cause the nurse forgot to cath me again. No biggie. I only vaguely remember it. And my doc couldn't have cared less. My husband laughed his fool head off though! Remember, the doc is used to it, it's natural, and you won't be the first or the last!

Yes,and us dads do too sometimes. When my first son was born, the labor lasted over 20 hours before they abandoned natural birth and performed a Cesarean Section. At every contraction a nurse was on the spot to catch whatever came out and dispose of it.She used a fresh glove and a fresh piece of cloth, and after the contraction she pulled the glove off ,turning it inside out with the cloth inside. There was no embarrassment whatsoever, and believe me some wild stuff was going on.

It is common to poop during the birth process, because the baby is pushing on the rectum, and you are pushing as if you were pooping.
An enema might not help, because it causes some women to have runny stools all through the birth - which is even worse than one or two regular poops.
Don't be nervous, if it happens, it is normal and noone will be surprised. Don't invite anyone you wouldn't want to see you poop.

No you don't pee on yourself. Just like sex, you can not pee while something is in you like that. But yes you can pooh on yourself. Most women don't even know they do it. And no one cares, the expect it. And believe me, when your pushing that baby out you will not care!

Some women do. If this is a problem for you, you can ask your doctor to give you an enema prior to giving birth. Some doctors will do this some will not. I would ask at your next visit to find out where your doctor stands on this issue. It really is natural, and nothing to be ashamed of. Good luck.

You have to push very hard, don't you? Difficult to control what you push. The midwife recommended that my wife went to the loo before the serious work started, which she did. No accidents, except for a small amount of wee. But who cares about that when you are in the midst of producing (or in my case, watching) a miracle?

you usually have to go to the bathroom when you are in labor, so if you go before the actual birth most likely you will only feel like you need to go when birthing but it is just the baby moving thru. But dont even worry about it, if it happens it happens, nothing they havent seen before, just consentrate on getting that baby thru fast w/o complications, thats whats important, you cant be afraid to push or you might cause problems.

OMG!! I was scared to death of that. More than anything I was afriad of pooping and being super embarrassed. Most women say that when you're in the situation you're not even thinking about it but I was. I made my husband promise that he was going to tell me if I did. Thankfully, I hadn't eaten for 30 hours so I didn't but about 2 minutes after they pulled her out I did vomit! So I dont know if that counts!

i'm afraid you can do.
That's one of the reasons while it is not adviseable for husbands to be watching, because most of them, even if they can take it in, will just never be able to consider this part of their wives body in the same way, sexually. I mean, do you still want to give oral sex to a part of the body you have seen distended, possibly partly cut with a blade to help a bit, not to mention some pooing and/or peeing before?
Anyway, most women (including my wife) are VERY embarassed about this. But all nurses / midwives / gynaecologists are used to it and don't even notice anymore.
Once the moment comes, it is just so wonderful that even thinking about those small things seems totally impossible.

Yes, it does happen. It happened to me with my first, but not my second. It's natural and the doctors will discreetly clean it up so that you don't have to worry about it. Really, it's no big deal. You would be surprised how many women deal with it. Just remember that it doesn't always happen to everyone. If it happens to you, at least you know that you aren't alone.
