Try to introduce it, you can still have a Hallowean party of your own and dress up. In UK we always had Hallowean but it seems to be getting more widespread, people even decorate their homes which they never used to do.

It may be best you do not. I guess when I was a child it was fun dressing up and getting candy. I do give candy to the children if they come around. Were I live the houses are further apart, so, most children go where there are more houses to hit per walking distance.

It's just not part of our culture. We weren't settled by superstitious puritans and have always been a fairly secular country. I guess some people also see it as an Americanisation and are opposed to it for that reason. But you could organise to have it among your friends who also have kids, so everyone's open to the idea and has 'candy' on hand. Could be fun.

the same reason they don't have anzac day in the us it's not part of our historical legacy.
We do have starbucks and every other us import so give it a couple of years and we'll all be carving pumpkins.

Really it a creepy holiday, I wish we didn't have it in the states. You should count your blessings. Also I didn't know it was only in the US?
