I agree- Be what? If the question you mean to ask is how do they live there - they are born live and are kept by the mother in the pouch - her teats/milk is inside, so the joey can nurse for the first stages of its life. once it gets old enough, (and can get help from mum here if its claws start to grow) it will start to leave the pouch to start a solid diet of grasses, but until it is weaned remains able to sleep inside the pouch and to be tucked away if the mother needs to run away from danger. All marsupials have this (so this includes Koalas and wallabies).
