just wanted to see if there is a trustworthy program out there. Or is there something already installed on the computer, that can shut off the computer automatically. Like a sleep timer on a television.

Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> Power Options

Try Enabling Hibernate on the Hibernate tab
and then you can go back to the Power Schemes tab and set a time to hibernate.

Hibernating is like shutting off your computer, except it saves what windows and such are open, before turning off the computer and then it restores them when you turn the computer back on. Hibernate has the advantage of getting started much more quickly, because it doesn't have to start each program again, it just loads an image of how the system looked when it was shutdown.

It's in the settings on your computer - no installation necessary - just play around with it. If you can turn it on you'll be able to figure it out.
