What is the best website for last-minute travel Specials for Hotels and/or Rental Cars only? (I am not looking for package deals!)
Or as an alternative, What is the best membership card program- ie- AAA, etc that offer good discounts at hotels?

For last minute hotel deals, I always rely on http://www.ratestogo.com . It's the sister website of http://www.hotelclub.com (for non-last minute bookings). They have an optional membership that if you opt to join, would give you discounts and perks everytime you use the site.
Then again, I guess it also depends on where you are going to. There are some places that are not really available for booking online so a traditional travel agent might be able to help you.
As for Rental Cars, sorry don't have any recommendations, but I think Ratestogo and HotelClub has some partners on their sites as well. I just haven't tried those.

AAA is the best membership card program out there.
For last minute deals, or for any deals, I always go with travel agents. They always have found cheaper deals than online websites.
