"digital subscriber line", most dsl circuts are actually adsl, which stands for "asymetrical digital subcriber line" but has been shortened to DSL. The most common type of DSL now is the DMT modulation. When DSL first came out on the market there were 2 types. CAP modulation and DMT modulation. CAP went the way of the Beta vcr player and DMT became the industry standard.
