I agree with you, and not only because I'm Italian :-)
"Life is beautiful" sometimes has some pauses while the story is rolling and sometimes moments of high poetry.
At the end, what mainly remains, is a great suggestion: life is fantasy!

Yes I've watched it. My teacher showed it to us and we had to write a movie review of it. The movie was great, funny but also touching at the same time. I rarely watch foreigh films but I really love this one.

i agree, very heart-wrenching...have you seen "Like Water for Chocolate" (Mexico) ? An emotional one for myself. and on a much darker level, there's "Samaritan Girl" a Korean flick. No innocent scenes here but the sacrifice the father (a cop) must go through to insure his daughter's freedom is truly unique. Don't attempt to watch this if you can't stomach young female prostitutes

at the same time conveys the most extreme emotions as you watch it

joyous and tragic
