It was certainly germany vs argentina. argentina were on their peak after defeating serbia n montenegro by 6-0 n germany was quite stable since the begenning of the worldcup. i liked both the teams n couldnt decide which team to support. newayz, the match was full of suspense and drama. though there were only two goals and the match had to go to the penalty stage, it was a wonderful match with an unexpected result which sent the latin american's packing...

italy v. australia, if the aussies weren't supposed to win that game, then i don't know who was...

italy v france, that was a nail biter, right there, even though i wasn't even supporting either team...it was a great game.

definitely when italy played australia. there were close moments in the game where it looked like there would be a winner soon, and it was only in the final seconds of the game where a penalty was given to italy where it went to a penalty kick for goal. just to see the look on people faces because people thought their was nothing in the penalty given to make it a penalty was really something.
second to italy and australia would be portugal vs england. this was another tight game, and where i was, which was filled with portuguese supporters, there was a lot of hostility and frustration, even people were giving up hope on portugal. then one of the top england players got a red card in the final seconds of the game, making it come down to a penalty shootout. being in a room filled with people, a lot of them were starting to give up. even my cousin was saying to me that there was no way portugal was gonna win, and she even shut her eyes, even when christiano ronaldo came up to have his shot. and when he shot for the goal, everyone in the room was all quiet until they realised he had gotten the ball in. then there were screaming and shouting and a lot of cheering, and we stayed at the front of the place for literally over an hour and people lighting up flares cheering the entire time, and this would have bn nearly five o'clock in the morning too. the only thing that wrecked it for me was when my sister was driving and we stopped at these traffic lights. i heard a lot of noise coming from outside and saw a bunch of guys walking, and they lit up red flares, and being directly near it, i could full smell it. and i also had a complete stranger coming up to my window, and when he saw that we had a portuguese flag in our car, full started cheering and giving me a handshake as well as a kiss on the cheek.
