The original wall/border was immeiately south of where Edinburgh stands today. Contrary to what many people believe, the Romans traded with the Scottish tribes, there exists evidence of this. The Romans, under Hadrian, moved the wall/border further south to its current location because it was easier to defend against warlike tribes. The Romans called our island, "Britain" which, in latin, means 'the bearded ones'. As Britain was tribal at the time, although more culturally advanced than we had originally thought, it was the the erection of Hadrians Wall by the Romans that probably accounts for the development of a seperate country called, 'Scotland'.

The area was created in 1975 as a two-tier region with the districts of Berwickshire, Ettrick and Lauderdale, Roxburgh, and Tweeddale within it. In 1996 the region became a unitary authority area and the districts were wound up. The region was created with the name Borders. The name Scottish Borders dates from 1996 and the creation of the modern council area.

It was formed by the English because we agreed to tell the cross dressing scot scum remain in the country. By the way before anyone says braveheart, if you look at the real story you'll find that Wallace ran away and the queen who loved him in the film hated the scottish so much she constantly invaded, and slaughtered them. Perhaps thats why there so bitter and jealous of the superior ENGLISH now
