I believe it's "There's more than one way to skin a cat"
It means that there is more than one way of doing something.

I do think the expression is "There's more than one way to skin a cat," but why would anyone really need more than one way for that? I'm thinking one way would be effective enough.

I think it means, once a person wants something done a certain way or there is only one way to do it, they may use the expression, "there's only one way to skin a cat". That is an expression I don't care for and I don't hear it that often as of late. I agree with you. I love cat's too.

I think its just a silly saying. I too love cats I have a long hair green eyed beauty. But I heard that some restaurants that are not from USA., actually eat cat. They skin them and boil them alive. I have heard them when I was near one of these places. It hurt me very bad. It sounded like a baby crying. I tried to tell someone but no one listened.

My mother always said, "There's MORE than one way to skin a cat." Interesting, but her expression obviously meant that there's more than one way to accomplish most anything.
