we're working with the HeLa line in school, could I say that chorionic villi sampling and amniocentosis are viable methods? Can you please give me your own answer to the question? *urgent*

Villi sampling and amniocentisis are methods, not sources.

You want cells that are actively dividing, so you can arrest them before anaphase, and get lovely "X"-shaped chromosomes..

Cells from amnotic fluid or chrorionic villi should work. I suppose that any cell type that you could get to undergo mitosis would work, if you could stop the cycle before anaphase. Back in the day, we used to use white blood cells that we extracted from full blood, then grew with colchicine.

I'm assuming you are talking about karyotyping the fetus here ?

CVS & amniocentris would both work fine.
