I COULD NOT FOLLOW YOUR QUESTION. IF YOU WANT SAY THAT EITHER YOU STUDY ONLY TO CLEAR IAS OR YOU PREPARE YOURSELF WITH THE JOB. THEN MY ANSWER IS IF YOU ARE GETTING JOB YOU MUST JOIN IT AND CONTINUE YOUR STUDY FOR IAS BUT FOR MAIN EXAMINATION YOU MUST TAKE LEAVES FOR AT LEAST 2 MONTHS.

To be precise, IAS exam is conducted for recruitment to the Higher posts of Govt. It is not a course. To be eligible for the IAS exam you need to be atleast a degree holder and between the age of 21 - 30. (Reserved category people get age concession depending on different factors). For more information, you may log on to www.upsc.gov.in and get the eligibility criteria, etc.

You have to be a graduate to appear for IAS and that's it. Better don't push youself too hard which may disappoint you for the rest of your life. IAS needs proper coaching, training and financial support to pay for it. This is like a soccer player aiming for FIFA.

As such their is no course after clearing IAS. But they give u training & after that u'll be posted as a SDO.
