My library contains probably close to 200 comedy albums and novelty records. I have some from Comic Relief, Jackie Mason, Kathleen Madigan, Jerry Seinfeld, and a lot of Bill Cosby and George Carlin. I also like Louis Grizzard a lot. Of course, I have all the Redneck Comedy tour ones, plus Jeff Foxworthy and Tater Salad and Bill Engvall. I also like older standup comedy by favorites like Bob Newhart and Phyllis Diller. Newer stuff, too like Harland Williams and Chris Rock and Adam Sandler.

For comedy music, my favorite artists are Tim Wilson, Ray Stevens, and the collections from The Bob and Tom show. Visit their websites to purchase their stuff. I have recently purchased the big box set of Allan Sherman's novelty records and I love listening to all the content on the six discs. You can buy it here --

Nearly every week I listen to The Dr Demento Show on the radio. I have most of the yearly membership albums plus pretty much everything else ever put out by Dr Demento. Each week I record the show onto audio tapes so I have thousands of hours of comedy music and other funny bits that I have accumulated over many years.

Between 1988 and 1992 I used to record a national radio show called "The Comedy Hour and it featured many stand-up comedy routines, some old like Woody Allen, The Smothers Brothers, and bits from Saturday Night Live, but mostly new current artists of the day. My favorites were Kevin Meany (OUCH --a needle in my eye) and Bob Nelson and various others like Emo Phillips and Johnathan Katts, Bobcat Goldwaithe and Timothy Leary.

In the town where I went to college, there was a local radio show called "Night At The Asylum" that was two hours of wacky music and comedy, usually based around a theme such as cartoons, death and dead people, sports, holidays, etc. I recorded that show as often as I remembered while in college, so I have many audio cassettes filled with that stuff.

No comedy collection is complete without records from Monty Python and Tom Lehrer and Weird Al Yanokovic, so search for and stock up on these.

Most comedy artists today have websites and MySpace pages such as Lemon Demon, The Frantics, Throwing Toasters, Heywood Banks, Robert Lund, Tim Cavanagh, Bob and Tom Show, Tim Wilson, etc.

There are tons of comeday records for holidays such as Christmas and Halloween, and any good comeday collection should have many of those. The Chipmunks and David Seville, Elmo and Patsy, Spike Jones, Stan Freeberg, Bob Rivers Comedy Corp, etc. Many golden oldies of comedy exist, too. I like Phil Harris stuff a lot. Here is an mp3 of one of the greatest novelty songs of all time:

Many regular artists have recorded the occasional humorous song, too, song as Leonord Nimoy (of Star Trek), The Beach Boys, Bobby Darin, and many others.

I have listed many artists, and have omitted thousands more. There is no shortage of comedy and novelty records out there. Some can be downloaded free, others might be available at your local library. Usually, selections at record stores are slim, but other titles can be ordered in for you. If you have time and patience and money to spend, there are thousands of comedy and novelty records available to be purchased online.

I hope my list was helpful.

I like Eddie Murphy and old ones like Richard Pryor. My favorite comedy albums are Bill Cosby. He never uses profanity and can tell the funniest stories I have ever heard about family.
