1.by plane.try finding information
at the instanbul airport or "eleftherios venizelos "
airport in greece.
2.there is a bus that goes from
"ktel kifissou" in athens to istanbul.
the same bus starts also from "ktel"
in thesaloniki.
3.by train.you take the train from
"stathmos ose" in athens ,
you go to thasaloniki and there
from "ose thesalonikis" you take
another train for istanbul.
i think the cheapest way is the 2nd

You're better off flying from Istanbul to Athens - the flight is about an hour vs. 20 hours for bus or train service.

You can use a public bus from one capital to the border and from the border to the other capital, or the train, but do not know how much it costs. You should try either www.ktel.org (for the buses) or www.ose.gr (for the trains).
The cheapest way to get to Greece from anywhere in Turkey is on boat from Canakcale to Samos, to Chios or to Mitilini (approx. 30€).

The cheapest way is by train.From Smerne to Mytilini or Chios by boat and then to Athens(boat again)it will cost you less than 80 euros and is an interesting cheap way to see beatifull places.Good Luck!!
