You will be joining millions and millions of women who have had the same experience. Nurses will tell you that screaming will tire you out, and it is very stressful for the baby.

Epidurals are the way to go! All OB/GYNS expect a little moaning or yelling during the labor pains. But yes, it is very true, that once it is over, the pain doesn't seem so bad. The body copes with it on its own quite nicely.

Childbirth pain comes with the baby. Nothing you can do about it. You don't sound like a good candidate for natural birth, so look into pain blockers, and discuss it with your doctor.

I have had three children (one C-section, two vaginal), and I have lived to tell the tale.

Oh, and don't worry about embarrassing yourself. Most doctors have seen it all!

Everyone experiences labor and delivery differently, and each childbirth experience can be different. I have given birth 5 times, and no two were exactly alike. The last one was the worst, I ended up having a c-section after two days of failed inductions. The one before that was the best, because I was able to labor in a hot-tub (he was almost born in the tub lol). Just remember, the pain doesn't last that long, and you will forget about it almost immediately. Good luck.

When I was pregnant I went 2 weeks over and had to be induced. I stayed at the hospital overnight and was given sleeping pills and a painkiller so I could sleep. The next morning when I woke up they took there time in getting everything prepared for my induction. I was having mild contractions all night and into the morning.

They finally got the drip into me at about 2pm in the afternoon. In all that time no one actually examined me internally to see how far I had dilated because to them my mild contractions didnt seem like they would do a thing. So there I am waiting for the birth and the doctor comes in finally to check me and tells me not to even bother asking for an epidural as I had dilated to 6cm..

So me and my friend 'GAS' got to work in dilating a further 4 cms. It was painful but I was only in 'full' labour for about 4 hours. The gas helped a lot, I even nearly fell asleep during it. When I was fully dilated I pushed for about 20 minutes and out sprang my son.

To me this was a good labour, especially after my sister went through 38 hours for her first.

Oh and my son weighed 9.5 lbs.

Child birth is not easy, and no woman will ever say it is. But it is managable. I have a very high tolerance for pain, and really didn't find childbirth all THAT bad. I was in labour with my son for 16 hours, and it was a LONG 16 hours. Once I got my epidural, things weren't bad. Honestly, my best advice is to not worry so much...know that it's going to be hard, but it is SOOOO worth it as soon as you see your baby. Worrying about the pain will only make it worse....don't stress, breath! Take it one contraction at a time.

I have two kids and both of my labors hurt but I didnt scream at anyone I just listened to the nurses and the doctors and focused on my husaband. I had no pain reducing drugs during labor or delivery my first labor lasted about 7hrs and my second lasted about 3hrs. I am 5 9 and weigh not preg. about 120 I think it just depends on how prepared you are to give birth.

With my second baby it was over so fast I didn't have time to yell or scream or even feel a lot of pain. Three pushes and that was it. My first was a tad different.

I was in labor for 12 hours and I yelled at a student nurse because she was arguing with me about me wanting to push. She said I wasn't ready, I said Oh yeah? Well tell that to this baby! Then I told her to shut up and go get my doctor. She stammers that she (my doc) was out jogging, I told her to page her skinny *** to get her back in here. Three minutes later my doc was in and dressed and ready to go. Afterward I felt kinda bad yelling at the poor student nurse, but damnit, don't argue with a woman in labor. I know what my body wants to do better than she does.

Second C-section was great. I would do it over again given the chance. I hate being pregnant though. That is the worst part of the whole experience to me. The nine months leading up to birth.

You MUST be joking - have delivered 5 and not once was it a
"good childbirth experience" - however, the more you have the easier the delivery gets. First you lose your shirt (and the rest of your clothes), then you lose your dignity and wonder about your serenity! But in the end it's all worth the effort! CJ

I went into the hospital because i was uncomfortable -- couldnt sleep -- found out I was 5 cm's dilated, water broke right when I got there -- 20 mins later I was pushing. Great labor (if you could call it that) pushed for 2 hours, and had her !
