We have a mouse in our house. I have tried humane mouse traps,(catch and release kind) he wised up to them. Tried snap traps, he out-smarted them too. I don't want to use poison for fear it will die and start to smell and we won't be able to find it. I really hate to use sticky traps b/c they are so in humane. Don't say cats, we are all allergic.

There is some kind of poison food that they eat and they dry out so it does not smell. I had that problem and you are right, those sticky traps are cruel. Too bad you are allergic to cats! They're the best ! And just hope your mouse in the house is a virgin because they build a family pretty quick! Please do not be offended. I couldn't resist humoring you a bit because I know it is quite annoying.

Well if you havent gotten him now there are probably more. A mouse is able to procreate in like 8 weeks after birth. If your sure its only one then try snap traps they work. You just want to secure the bait to the trap so they work to get it off. Then snap, done.

Try snapping mouse traps with peanut butter on and under the part that trips the trap, not too much because you want him to work hard at getting to it. They LOVE peanut butter and it'll probably be so keen on getting all of it that it'll trip it.

What kind of bait did you use on the snap trap? If you use peanut butter he can't dodge the trap. We have had 100% success with this at our house.

The snap traps always work in the end if you give it enough time, but they can be quite bloody and inhumane at times too, just as bad as the sticky ones.

Get an empty coffee can and put a few cheese puffs in it .Put it near the place where you normally see mouse activity.Get an oven mitt or a heavy pot holder. Now be very quiet and sit as close to the can as possible. When the mouse goes in the can,Quick, cover the hole in the can with the pot -holder.Take the mouse to the nearest wild area and release it. Please don't use glue traps, they are extremely cruel as the mouse dies slowly from shock, dehydration and starvation, not to mention that it must be terribly painful to be glued to a board.Whoever invented glue traps must enjoy seeing little animals suffer.Shame!

I have not tried this method but I heard it works.. fill a bucket with water and have a board leaning uo to the top of the bucket so the mouse can climb up the board to get to the top of it ,and there have some string that breaks at the slightest bit of weight bait the middle of the string with . so the mouse will climb up the board to get to the top and go for the bait. when he does the string will break and he will fall into the water and drown

i've tried 'em all son.. the glue traps are the best.. easy, and it works.. i like to put extra peanut butter on top.. that catches 'em for sure. a lot safer to use than the old Snap type traps.. or any kind of poison.. specially if you got kids or pets..
be sure you lock up your pets that night.. in the mornin.. you'll have a nice little surprise for sure.
..finish him off with a hammer so the lil critter don't suffer too much.. in the glue.

There is a poison available which doesn't kills mouse. You have to mix it up with some food, mouse will eat it and start suffocating. He will come out in open for 100% and take last breath there.
