I consider public display of affection as a way of showing off (look what I got). I don't like showoffs so I don't want to be one myself but when I say this girls they act like I don't like them or something. Why is it so necessary?

This might settle her down off the thought of doing so, otherwise if shes a fetishist of this sort you might end up breaking up over such an incident, inwhich case that is what you want as you have stated how you are.

I don't think women think of it as public display of affection, I think they think that you are rejecting them everytime you pull away when they are being affectionate in public. Rejection is something that is hurtful to both men and women alike. Everytime you pull away from a woman's advances, she feel rejected...It is absolutely ok to hold hands, hug or give a soft kiss in public, as long as you act respectful and don't overdo things. Long kissing sessions in public or touching inappropriately is not acceptable, but as long as you are respectful of the people around you, you can sneak a kiss or hug now and then without leaving your partner feeling rejected.
