I have it.... i used to be able to handle that and go to work normally while in a "mild" and even a "moderate" level of this disease. In the last few years it has progessed to "Severe" and I miss about 50% of my life, not just work.... sleep, physical therapy, family events, everything.

It is now not just generalized pain but more like really bad charlie horse cramps in my feet, legs, back, neck, arms, hands & my face.. my face even contorts and the lumping has become so frequent that is is permant in some places (like on my hands).

Even given all that & my doctors asking me if I am going to continue to try to work... I still say YES... my employer is willing to work as much as possible with me so far & even though my income is dropping & that means my Social Securty payout will be erroded as a result (for whenever I get to that point) I still choose to strive to do my very best to do what I can when I can.

So hang in there......... you can make it work!!! another suggestion... learn progressive relaxation

i am unable to work full time. ...............But it affects me differently that it affects others and I understand that. I had a co worker (when i worked part time) who had it and she worked full time with no problem. On the days when I'd feel like crap because of the weather she was not affected. I WISH I didn't have it to that degree, but I do. I am HAPPY for you that you arent bad off enough to have to quit your job! More power to you and I send you Blessings that you continue to feel good enough to maintain your life as a Full Time Working Woman!!!!!

PS. the person that was disappointed just wishes that they had a reason to quit their job! tell them that beiing at home all day when your mind wants to be outside isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Like most illness it affects each person in a different way. I've had it for years and while it could be a pain in the *** I worked.

I have a friend however who also suffered from it and she could not leave the house because pain, lack of sleep and a pile of other crap.

Another problem about leaving work because of it. there are still a bunch of doctors out there who don't beleive it exists, don't recognize the symptoms and will screw you over because of it.

you will know if or when you need to stop working because your body will let you know. If you get to the point that you cannot get up to get ready for work, have no energy to do work properly, difficulty thinking, difficulty seeing for some of us, it will be time to consider quitting, and getting Disability. I am disabled with it due to the above symptoms. The degree of sickness in FMS varies from person to person. I was a hard working girl until this floored me.

Some people just revel in misery - you must have let them down. You can definitely function with it - you may need to take it easy when you're having a bad day but it doesn't necessarily run your life. Take good care of yourself. For many people, dietary changes (eliminating artificial sweeteners and processed foods, checking for undiagnosed gluten intolerance [www.celiac.com]) can work miracles. Learn as much as you can about your condition to get the best treatment you can, find a support group online, and you will do fine.

My mum has it, she went through a period where she couldn't work because of severe pain, she could only work for 1 hour. She's getting better now and doesn't need the disable parking permit.

There are different varities of it. Have you seen the symptom list?? Good on you if you can still work.

lol disappointed? They were probably just confused. Either that or they don't like you much?

It doesn't need to. You can have it bad or go through bad phases, and some people give up too easily while others push theirselves to be normal and keep their job.

I guess you are living proof that it doesn't make you unable to work so you've answered your own question.
