I've heard a few vague things about laughter therapy--the idea that laughing has the ability to help heal physical as well as emotional ailments--and am interested in finding out more. Everything I've found on the net has been a little vague. I'm interest to know if anyone has tried this or has information about studies on it. Also, I've heard that some physician has compiled some kind of a "laughter medicine database"--funny clips, cartoons, movies. etc. Anyone heard of it?

i haven't heard of a laughter database although chuckles are easy to find on the internet. as for laughter, my wife and i always laugh before going to sleep each night. it definitely has a calming effect on our ability to sleep and our quality of sleep. we usually watch a funny movie. last night it was 'southern belles. nothing bawdy, just good laughs.

It's a very good to laugh ever sense I found out I have M.S I have been laughing my day at work. I joke and so forth to get me through another day. I have been lucky I have not gotten fired for my dumb jokes but most are aimed at myself . O.k and some times toward my boss but at the end of the day it all evens out and I feel better and I got through another day at work. Good luck and God Bless..

well it can't be bad for you you know? i'm sure the research is just starting. but i will give my own example. i had a real bad day a few years ago. i felt low, frustrated and angry. and after i managed to get the kids to bed i sat on the couch ready to cry but decided to watch t.v. and then i saw Bill Cosby's Himself (1983) show on HBO. the funniest comedy routine ever for parents. he described the hell of raising kids in a hilarious way. i was laughing so hard, even though some of it was dated. and i felt GOOD and i went to bed without crying myself to sleep and instead giggling at bits n pieces of his act! and i have a comedy stash for a low day.
