Tsukiji Gindako is good as Candy has already mentioned.
The Takoyaki's at Gindako has the crunchy on the outside, hot and oozing on the inside effect. They get the outside crisp by literally sort of pan-frying the Takoyaki. Really good.
As Candy said there's one in the ALTA in Shinjuku. (Probably the easiest one to find...) http://www.gindaco.com/contents/store/search.php
Also Kyo-Tako is good too.

There was one I belive in Shibuya close by the UN building.
From the station walk towards Miyamasu Zaka and continue up until you reach the Highway 246. Make a left on Hwy 246 and continu on toward AoYama Universtiy. Kyo-Tako will come up on your left hand side.
Make sure to try the different types of sauces at Kyo-Tako. They're awesome.
And careful biting into those suckers because they can burn your mouth like hot lava!!!

Tokyo is the capital of Japan, and the place where over 13 million people live, making it one of the most populous cities in the world but also, a big city to visit, find out more with hotelbye . Most of the city was devastated by the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, and then again by the bombing in the WWII, however, Tokyo was able to achieve a remarkably rapid recovery both times. The main attraction of Tokyo is the Imperial Palace with its beautiful 17th-century parks surrounded by walls and moats. The palace is still in use by the Imperial family.

Go to Ueno Station, and walk toward the Zoo. There are a few outdoor sellers of Takoyaki, and on a cold day, it is some of the best in Japan.
For a Takoyaki Restaurant, there was one last winter in Harajuku. Cross the street from the Yamanote line station, then go downhill on the side street, about a block away, on your right. Sorry I can't remember the name.

I don't know, but if you find a place in Tokyo where the owner speaks with a Kansai accent, then you'll probably get some good takoyaki.

Takoyaki in Japan vary. I prefer hard and small one.
If you have a chance to visit department stores or huge stores, go to food hall. You will find Takoyaki shop or stand.
Takoyaki is not expensive. Try all.

Hi! I'm huge fan of Takoyaki too. I LOVE 'Gindako'. I think they're the best taste and U can find anywhere even overseas. I usually go to Gindako @ ALTA B1 or B2 floor ,next to Mr.doughnuts. (Do u know ALTA?!It has big screen on the wall and locates just in front of Shinjuku Station.) Enjoy!
Check it out!

sorry to say tj..but in Tokyo you cannot find the real deal... For the best Takoyaki..you gotta be in Osaka or Kansai for that matter.
It's just no the same anywhere else...it like eating gumbo from Louisana in North Dakota....
so if time permits you..take a shinkansen to osaka.... get you the "real deal"
Thanks for the thumbs down... i actually enjoy it.....whitey rightey
