I try to never call in sick to work. However, I've called in twice, on two occasions when I was getting over a cold. I felt horrible and could not talk at all. If you go to work, you'll probably just end up feeling worse, since you need to rest to get over a cold. I say call in sick. Your employer should understand.

Well, bbw. if you are getting over a cold, why would you want to call in to work sick. I don't think you really want us to tell you what to do. I think since this is your very first question, and a really silly one at that, that you are just curious to see what we all have to say. So get out of bed in the morning, take a couple of extra tissues so as not to blow any leftover germs you may have in anybody's face and GET TO WORK!!!. That's an order.

I would imagine the best thing to do would be to call your boss and explain that you're getting over a cold and let him decide.

Uh, no ... a cold is not an excuse to miss work unless it is the first 24 hours where you are going to spread it.

If its REALLY serious then you should take the day off.

If you can tolerate it then go to work.

And if you MUST go to work because the boss demands it (ie Working on something important) then go.

Yes, you want to be 100%. Depends on how your job is though. Most companies make it difficult for employees to take time off these days.

No, go to work as that is probably where you caught it in the first place.

If you wouldn't cancel a vacation - you don't cancel work. You have a responsibility - be responsible.
