Apples and oranges to me. I like certain things about both countries' customs and culture, and I hate some things about their culture; namely their hygiene practices. Politically I don't trust either one of them, and dealing with them in business is equally hard, but for different reasons.

It depends what i am going to do there? if i am a businessman looking to expand my business china offers a lot but as an individual i would say India will be my first choice. As it offers so many tourist attractions such as Taj Mahal, and Indian people can speak very good English as well so it makes it easy to communicate with them. And I think in India I would have more freedom of expression than china as it is the biggest democracy in the world.

You asked your question under the "Business/Finance" section so I will approach my answer from that perspect. Both countries have large populations and both have a rising middle class. China, however is a communist country controlled by party elites. India on the other hand is the worlds largest democracy. I'll go with India!
Oh yeah, and India has many more english speakers.

Before I came to USA, I was born and raised until teens in vietnam, I lived under communist rules. Tell you the truth, It is sucked.I will choose India over china because the stability of the political system. In India, you have both system working(political and economic), in China, single party rule is suck. Can you Imagine the Communist party decide everything for you? No freedom of thinking, AS right now, If you live in china and you google Tiamen Square, it will come up blank. What kind of system is that when your government hide the truth from your own people, It is suck
