check your sound properties for the headphones. There's a slider right below the name. Make sure it's in the middle.

Try checking your settings in the system to be sure nothing is 'mute'!
ControlPanel > Sounds,Speech, and AudioDevices > Sounds & Audio Devices (tabs:'volume'- {uncheck} mute{check} place icon in taskbar; 'sounds' - soundscheme -'customize' or use 'default'; do NOT forget to check 'Apply' AND THEN 'OK'!
Once you close the control panel selections, open your volume with a 'right-click' to display the volume control box with about 5 different options to 'level' up enough to hear & insure none of the mute boxes have been erroneously muted. Do you have a speaker control on the speakers themselves? An on/off speaker switch? That could help! Could be the headphones! Have jiggled the plugs to disfunction? [sure ya have] Have fun!

Get a new set of headphones. The wiring is messed up. You can try to cut the plastic wrapping and tape the wire together.
