professional liars and sociopaths can easily beat lie-detector tests. best way to identify cheaters is to test them on the same subject matter again. if the score is way lower the second time, there you go

I think it depends on the situation. If you think the person is not telling the truth and you think that they might tell the turth if they think the may have to take a lie dector test than use it to your advantage. If you think that they might try to alter the test in any way then don't use it. You won't know anymore after the test then you did before the test. If you think they might alter the test then just give them the exam over with a different test. I heard one time in which to kids lied and said the reason that they couldn't make it to school to take the test was because they had a flat tire. The teacher told them that they could make up the exam. After they got back the teacher put each kid in a seperate room and gave each their test. The only question that was on the test was which tire was flat????

Funny, I just read another question that said "please refer to the theories of emotions." Hmm...strange...
Anyhow, polygraph results (lie detector tests) aren't even admissible as evidence in court, because they have a 25% rate of erroneous measurement. Therefore, no, it wouldn't be fair.

No. Lie detector tests are not as accurate as you might think, and are way too expensive for any school system I know.

no, theories or not, there is no need, just change the tests in order to properly see if students know the material. You can test by telling students to spell out the process of how they find their answers!

No... if they were not caught cheating.. and you have no other proof that cheating occurred,, then no.. you cannot accuse someone of it by way of asking them to submit to an exam to prove they didn't cheat.. . get a grip..
