Tip the doorman L1, when he whistles for a taxi and opens the door for you.
Tip the hotel cleaning staff one or two pounds per day.
They add a service charge right into your restaurant bill, but round up to about 20%

you should always tip minimum 10% in a resturant (so long as the service has been good enough!!), but as far as others taxis, doorman etc just give them what you feel like or what you can afford. it is good etiquette to tip the bellhop, but tipping the doorman unless he has been very helpful or extra kind to you in some way isn't necessary. As for taxis, it nice to tip but agin you won't find everyone doing it, esp not the brits!!

Well I'm from the UK, go out in London regularly. I tip 10% but thats only in a good restaurant, if you go for cheap then a quid would do (£1). I don't like tipping so I'd find it hard to go the US!!

Don't worry about it. These people (like taxi drivers) are in paid jobs. If they are not paid enough they should leave and the employer will then increase wages to retain staff.
By all means tip, if the service is better than you would expect, but I wouldnot get into the habbit of tipping as a norm.

Remember what T.I.P.S. (to insure proper service) stands for and judge by that, but the genral rule is 18% but if service is excellent give more. Judge by the over all experience.

They don't like to be tipped, the consider it rude. Just as you walk out of the hotel give the guy a high five.

Check the bill, many places in Europe add a gratituty in with the bill, therefore, you do not have to tip as we do in the US.
