You have to post a notice in a newspaper for 30 days (or maybe 60 days) to find the owner... if nobody comes to claim it.. then it is yours.

If you don't want it or need it, throw it in your neighbor's yard and let them
deal with it. That's what I do with all my unwanted trash - he blames it on
the teenagers in the neighborhood.
