Regina: DUH. I know that Lynyrd Skynyrd sings the song. My god woman, I'm from Alabama. And I'm not an idiot.

Fried chicken and the south are synonymous. "Sweet Home Alabama" is a southern anthem. The group that made the song famous was Lynyrd Skynyrd, also from the south (my sweet home-state, Florida!). Besides, the ad was probably tailored for each region of the country, and this one runs only in the southeast.

They think no one will notice if they don't play the lyrics.
Besides, everyone likes Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Maybe because we have numerous Chicken farms and companies that prepare chicken for the market down here.. Maybe KFC gets their Chicken from Alabama. Just my opinion don't know for sure..

Sweet Home Alabama is not only an anthem for Alabama but all of the deep south.

I think it has to do with the honey barbeque flavor of chicken they are trying to sell you. It is sweet so they are using a play on words to make you think of their honey barbeque chicken every time you hear that popular song. I still prefer the original flavor.

I hate that song, too. It's so overused and worn-out.
