I just love these kind of questions! Basically, you do not have to match your eyemakeup to your outfit! Your eyemakeup should make your 'eyes' look good not your outfit. I wish I knew what color your outfit was. Be careful, cuz if you have a red white and blue outfit ( just for example) adding purple to your eyes will make you look clownish...Hopefully you are wearing some neutral colors,,,black, white navy or brown. Then the purple won't clash.

I honestly think that people who 'match' their eyeshadow with their clothes, don't have a sense of style. If you're naturally stylish, you'll know that 'matching' your face to your clothes doesn't mean that you have a sense of style or class. Rather than match, COMPLIMENT. Use Complimentary colors, colors that will make you look pretty in what you are wearing! For example, purple compliments yellow and vice versa. Blue compliments green in a bold way, and warm yellow compliments olive. Going for a stark contrast can also be interesting, but not very appropriate if you want to project modesty.

The colors do not need to match, if fact, most of the time, they shouldn't match. While your makeup and clothing colors needs to suit your coloring, wearing all the same color(s) on your face and body can look too monotone.
The only thing that needs to match if the formality of the makeup, i.e. everyday, casual clothing shouldn't be paired with heavier, glamorous makeup, a formal gown shouldn't be paired with everyday, casual makeup, etc...

there just needs to be a good contrast. If you're wearing neutrals it might be good to go light on the eyes and perhaps use a red, brown, or neutral colored lip. If you're wearing colorful clothing you could implement one of the colors in your eyeshadow, as long as you go easy on it. The main rule is, if you go loud on the eyes go soft on the lips and vice versa. Just practice and then take a step back and see how it all looks together. You may have the kind of personality that can pull of any wild look. Like my sister.

Not necessarily. If you match your makeup to your clothes too much, you could look silly. For example, you are wearing lots of pink in your outfit, if you wear pink makeup, you may look like cotton candy, Not cool. Sometimes, it's ok to offset the colors. For example, I wore this awesome pink lacy, sleevless top with a black skirt. On my eyes, I used this color called "Parrot" by Mac on my eyes. It's a green-blue color, with more of a bluish hue to it. On my lips, I put a very close-to-neutral pink lipstick with gloss over it. It was perfect and I got SO many compliments on it. Don't be afraid to be daring, however, beware of the color combos, they don't always look good.

I think that you should wear the purple eyeliner since it does look good on brown eyes. If you want to, wear something else to match the purple eyeliner. Hope this helps!

too many women try to match their makeup to the clothes they have on. you should try choosing some colors that will best complement your skin tone and eye color. that way, you won't have to dig through a massive container of makeup to match your outfit for the day and if you change clothes midway thru the day (going from school to work, work to dinner, etc), you won't have to change your make up.

it does not have to match, and i think if you try to match the exact color of the outfit to the eyes it looks bad. Just try neutral versions of the color outfit you are wearing. You dont want too much of one color!!!

its all about the eyes...if the shirt doesnt match dont worry about it...just so long as the shadow isn't too over powering...take carrie underwoods 'jesus take the wheel' video...her makeup was beautiful...but no baby blue was in her outfit and she looked great...right? if its a dark purple...go for the smoky eyed look...if its a light sparkly purple...just a bit on your top lid will do...hope this helps!
