I even tried downloading google's toolbar to get popup blocker and was told that I needed an Explorer 5.5 or higher.

In his infinite wisdom(lol) Mr Bill Gates has decided that no further support will be made for Windows 98, NT, Millenium and 2000 if you are after update your could try searching for 2000 update archives or else upgrade to XP home or professional. Sorry about that, he is a bit of a turd isn't he.

have u updated win 2000 regularly?microsoft has given up on 98!but not 2000?i think!try auto update!!if it works then don't worry about the version!!eventually they end up having same patches!!
if cheer boy is right then bill gate is crazy!!
