Allen, the Commcast cable guy, uses words like “gooder” and “groovy” whenever he can. He appeared a little disheveled with his ratty jean shorts, construction man boots, and Budweiser t-shirt; his face seemed scruffy, not exactly shaven. The cable guy arrived Friday at 2 p.m. and started working. Throughout his job of setting up two televisions with digital cable and one computer with high-speed cable and wireless internet, he ran into continual bumps; but refused to give up or go home until the job was completely finished.

Your first sentence is horrible....delete it or change entirely.

The cable guy arrived on Friday at 2 p.m. He wore ratty jean shorts, an old Budweiser t-shirt, and a pair of professional construction boots. His hair was unkempt, and he appeared to have several days worth of 5 o'clock shadow. The assignment consisted of setting up two televisions with digital cable and adding high-speed cable and wireless internet to one computer. Despite his "gooder" and "groovy" vernacular he refused to go home until the job was complete.

He appeared disheveled( that means....slovenly--messy) a little disheveled??
