? This should be a joke between you... Like remind her of a time you covered her butt, and then ask her to cover yours thru the wedding.

Use this opportunity to be gushy with her just this once. Tell her how much she means to you and that it would be an honor to have her as your maid of honor. And that you love her very much and if she tells anyone that you got all sentimental on her you will deny it till the day you die. Sometimes it is good to let people know how much they mean to you. Here is my suggestion. Tell her that you think she would be the best choice for maid of honor, because if anything goes wrong with the wedding, you can blame her for it. You might also mention that you want to se how she will look in the ugly bridesmaids dresses you have selected.

When I got married, I stopped by my best friend's work at lunch time and said, "Hey, Jer, would you be my best man?" He already knew I was getting married, of course. But, that's a guy thing. I guess women have to make it a "moment." :)
