Freedom of press doesn't give them the freedom to flatout lie about someone or something just to make someone look bad, they still have to be accountable for what they say, just like everyone else. That is of course, unless it's done in parody/satire.

John Stewart Mill, famous member of British Parliament around the 1850's once said, 'you rights end at the tip of my nose'.

Freedom of speech does not allow anyone to run into a movie theater and yell fire. Freedom of the press does not the press to write anything the please in violation of someone's character and person (unless a public figure-then practically anything goes).

So do what you want and say what you want as long as you remember the dignity and privacy of the individual citizen.

A big "if".

Yes, the freedom of the press does not extend to libel. The thought it that either what is printed is the truth or it better be in jest. That is why so many children's books are actually political satires in disguise.

The press should be held accountable, both financially and criminally. What the NYT is doing is criminal.

What the media does in destroying innocent people is dispicable and they should be held financially accountable.

I believe most in the media have taken advantage of the first amendment and it is wrong.

Freedom of the press must be only used for good purposes and must not conceal crimes.
