The best way I've found to fight a cold is to take something like Nyquil right when I start to feel the first symptom(s), like a sore throat for instance. If you get a sore throat and you just have that feeling that it's gonna turn into a cold, it's better to be safe than sorry. The cold is like some other things that affects the body in a negative way, if you detect it early and treat it, you'll be okay.

I dont think you can cure a cold but you can take medications to help relieve cold symptoms and speed up recovery. Drinking lemonade and orange juice would help or you can buy over the counter medications at a local pharmacy store. However, you can prevent getting a cold by consuming foods with high contents of garlic and vitamin C.

OK firstly you can't fight the cold. If you feel you have a cold it is too late. The virus has already infected you and now your body is using up all you energy to kill it. This take time. It is this reason you feel like crap. What to do to feel better? Have paracetamol, stay in bed and watch comedy video's. Nice smelly stuff like menthol and throat sweets can be nice too. Good luck!!! Oh if your nose is blocked try some otrivine. This stuff is the best at unblocking noses!!!

What always worked for me was time. Nothing else would help. I mean you can take medicine for the symptoms like cough and fever, but that's only temporary. Time is the best. If your cold lasts longer than a week, then you need to see a physician.

At the first sign of a cold I start taking Zinc lozenges. Take one every four hours for two or three days. Drink extra water and fruit juice and get enough sleep.
This always works for me.

fluids and rest. zinc might have some small benefits.
im sure youre going to hear a lot of echinaciea and vitamin C; vitamin C has been proven to help prevent colds in people who are highly stressed (like soldiers in extreme conditions, endurance athletes, etc) but doesnt do much for the general population. most studies have found echinaciea doesnt really do anything.

Lots of vitamin C. I take vitamin C supplements all winter, and also carry those orange flavored drops that have vitamin C in them to suck on during the day. Helps keep me from getting sick, and if I do get sick it only lasts a day or two!
