You're right. It's a sad state today's society is in.

If you don't feel that partying, drinking and sex are not what are important in YOUR life, then more power to you (and I'm with you two out of three). However, there should be "better things and more uplifting things to fill your life with" than worry about how OTHER people are filling theirs. The Constitution protects life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness--you don't have the right to decide how others pursue happiness, providing they are not hurting others.
Drinking, sex and cussing does not make you an adult, that's true. However neither does self-righteousness, prudery, and proselytizing. You've made your decision not to partake--congratulations, you are to be admired. Let others make their own decisions without your judgement and interference.
edit: I just read my answer over again and realize that it might sound a little harsh. Don't get me wrong--I think you have made an admirable choice with your life. I'm just pointing out that it is a choice you should be making for YOU, not for anyone else.

Honey, when you're 40 you will NOT want to go back and be 20 again. You might wish you had the body, but you will never want to go back and be that immature again. I would not trade 48 for 28 in a million years. By telling people to grow up (which i admit I do from time to time), I am telling them not to think the world revolves around them, to get out into the real world and see how things really are. Not everyone you meet is going to think you are as cute and blameless as your parents do. They will expect you to use your brain and show some responsibility. That's what I'm referring to when I tell someone to "grow up."

You are correct, and I feel the same way you do. We moved to a different state a few years ago, and we had to make new friends. It is hard when everyone wants to sit around and smoke pot and act like they are 17 years old. They need to grow up. It makes me feel stupid when I am thought to be boring because I don't do drugs or act like a fool. I am not boring, and I'm not a prude either. I'm 29 years old for Pete's sake, and I like acting like it!

I cuss occasionnally, I don't drink, and I don't sleep around. People can say that im not taking risks and whatnot, but I don't care. In the end, im probably making the better choices anyways. They shouldn't judge me because I stay on the safe side. But I don't judge them if they don't.

I think your point of view is really admirable but if other people are getting offended by what you are saying maybe you may need to change your approach .... ie not being overly reactive when this happens around you and in a calmly effective manner say that you feel that it's not appropriate that these things are discussed around you and explain in a non confrontational manner that you find this offensive.
After all... every one is entitled to have their opinions and yours (and theirs) are as valid.
If that fails... maybe you need to change your social group...
Good luck and keep believing in what you believe...

sweety i'm 49 years young, and those things that you've mentioned aren't the spice of life, however being an adult does mean having respect for other as well as ones self.it appears that you have mastered those qualities.stay true to your beliefs and know that ALL of today's society hasn't adopted the vices you'vementioned.
