Your LAN problem could be???

I can suggest if you have a pen & paper, write down your LAN configuration; so I can greatly assess your network problem.

Or if you go through your configuration again you might solve it yourself. (",)

Hi This is not a LAN problem. I think you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 because during install Windows Vista and Seven ask about setting up - Home or Office (Work) Network. Mostly we skip this as we do not have any Office or Home Network. But both OS create Default LAN(Local Area Network) So,the LAN message: "STATUS: limited or no connectivity or Local Access Only " appears which shows that there is no LAN i.e. Home Network connection. To use Broadband we CREATE a new PPPoE connection which is different from default LAN(Home or Office Network) created by OS.So you can still access Internet in spite of the LAN message. In short, you have two different connections independent of each other. Regarding Download speed you have not mentioned your connection Speed like 256Kbps or Higher and the download speed you get.So It will not be possible to point out the reason, but it is sure that LAN message has nothing to do with Download Speed. Here are few tips for full speed download: 1.Use Downloader like Obit or DAP. Also check your firewall settings. 2.If you download using uTorrent ot BitComet then Limit Upload Rate to 1 and Download rate to Unlimited. Try these tips.Hope your question is solved now. Have a great time dear, Er.Guru

The best possible way to deal with this is to literally go into the MS-DOS window OR the network settings and type in the IP address and details yourself.
If you really cant figure it out, try calling your computer maker for support or look for a good computer store in the yellow pages. Generally people are very helpful.

You will have the most luck with a Dell or HP computer.

Good Luck!
(I have been riddled with network problems from all my friends and even my own computer is not connecting)

you need to give a IP address and Subnet mask to your computer. Turning off or on the firewall has no affect on the "Acquiring Network Address" problems.

You have to contact your network and inform them that you are now using a different connection so they can make the change enabling you to get on the Internet.

Its a problem with the DHCP server on the router. You need to contact whoever is administrating your service.
