I think it is for absenses that are not called into the school without a parents permission or concent. Their is a difference between excused and unexcused and I'm pretty sure it is the unexcused that they are worried about.

you need a copy of your local school boards policies for the school in question.most states have the same basic rules/concepts.you need to have on paper the laws and rules for your specific state and county.
you need the laws and policies that apply to your specific state..county..and school in question.
we moved from fla to ga seeking better education policies and so on.the county we were in down there simply wanted to drug my adhd child...he could not take the meds..all side effects ,no benifits.we had multiple health issues that made attendance a real tough area to navigate.evcused vs. unexcused...how many days a semester..or per yr...is is a concrete number?blah blah blah
again..request specifics for state..yr county and district..and the specific ones for the school in question.most certainly available thru school board..possibly online.
good luck.sounds like there is a question about what they consider truancy..which can be even if excused.are the excuses medical or parental?
