The Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland was always my favorite. It had been there since 1967, practically unchanged!
But I heard a rumor that after the popularity of the movie (which really wasn't based on the ride at all, except for the fact that there were pirates and they were in the Caribbean), Disney went and changed the ride so that it matched the movie.
Is this true???

If so, what exactly did they change?

This sounds like a really bad idea to me. The ride was perfect as it was. I hope they didn't change too much.

It Is Indeed True..

Both Disneyland Versions And Disney World's Magic Kingdom's PotC (disney fan's abriviated 'pirates of the caribbean') Has Been Modified To Make It More Into the Movie..

Yes they did.. They even corresponded the re-opening of the ride to correspond with the opening of the new movie (Was at Disneyland in April and saw the sign)

Since the ride was closed, I can only tell you what I heard - they made the pirates look like the movie characters - other than that, I am not sure what they changed.

There is a small dip, maybe 10 feet if that, in the beginning of the ride. This is not an intense ride at all. It is dark.

Yeah. They added Jack Sparrow to the ride three times. That's all. Nothing else.

hm. I never heard that. BUT I was down at Disney world for spring break in march and they did have the ride shut down for renovations. which made me mad. I loved that ride and my son didnt get to experience it.
hope that isnt the reason
