A lot of newspapers are put together by people who do not do a lot of soul searching or deep intellectual thinking about the issues of the day. This is a fact-I worked for a major newspaper.
Mostly they just pick and choose the stories that come from the wires such as Associated Press and Reuters, cut and paste them into a program like Quark.and make your newspaper pages.
So it it is kind of a vicious circle. The people who select what you get to read are programed by what THEY have read- what someone else like them who has been conditioned has selected for them to read. There is not a lot of real intellect going on in most of the media.
We are basically all "dumbed down" by the media now.
In my opinion it's kind of scary, actually.

Yes, the press is free, but it's a profit-making enterprise and operates by the rules of the marketplace. And in order to remain profitable and not alienate news consumers, the mainstream media cannot stray too far from, well, the mainstream. And mainstream media consumers have no idea who Noam Chomsky is and don't think he's important.
Now, if the mainstream media wanted to take it upon themselves to make Noam Chomsky known and portray him favorably, they'd have to *all* do it so as to avoid seeming out of touch. Because if only one or two media outlets did it and nobody else was doing stories about Chomsky, it would seem strange and incongruous to consumers, and they would become suspicious and accuse those outlets of bias.
Oh, and by the way, this applies for any un(der)reported story anybody's upset about.

The Far Left Wing ACLU Adoring Radical Liberals control the mainstream media.
The NY Times the leader in News fabrication, is an example of how low the field of Journalism has sunk to...journalism once an exciting dynamic field has become a tool of the Liberal Left whose goal is the secularization and utter destruction of the fabric of this great nation... ask George Sorros.
Real Hard News Journalism...what's that?
The NY Times, The Boston Globe and the SF Chronicle make toilet tissue (used) a far better read for the bias and Liberal Left fabrications and treason they espouse!

MP's had been most likely in on the Heathrow airport demonstration - It just suggests the lengths they'll go to to push this entire factor through - its known as bad propaganda, burying dangerous news (for them) with the aid of exchanging it with yet another problem. I was once disillusioned it used to be no longer on Sky either - they got here to the rally in October. On the day-to-day politics the BBC political editor used to be spinning the referendum debate as if no one was once quite serious about it anymore - feeding us lies which some humans would receive and no longer query. I feel what we want on this country are an underground agency committed to using extra violent method to obtain their ends over Europe - critically. Democracy has proved to be vain on this matter. Its all a sham. Freedom opponents from all over Europe. Oh ... Is that a knock on the door lol its Europol!

As the saying goes, "its a semi-free country". From what I have heard (from the media) is that a majority of journalists went to school where they were indoctrinated into a somewhat extreme leftist point of view, and then when they graduated were mostly hired by publications that where owned and operated by those of leftist viewpoint. While there are probably exceptions, most of the media appears to be leaning to the far left.

I do not agree with much of what he has to say, but Noam Chomsky is one of the great minds of the century and his views ought to be aired more, if only to keep everyone honest with a healthy debate.

The press is free, they just choose to be pro-conservative. Thats becaue the press is large corporations. If they were liberal we'd see pictures like this on the news every night. But they dont want to harm support for Bush's oil war.

How many US citizens - even those who read the paper - knew that Thailand overthrew its government last week?
In the US you hardly ever hear any news of any nation - including your own!
Is this the fault of the media, or apathy on the part of the consumers? Are the media simply giving the consumers what they want to read?
Hmmmm.....

We don't have the diversity in news sources as we once had.
Many areas of the media are operated by the same owner.
Too many sources publish their own political agenda, not both sides of issues.
As we've witnessed, even falsified news and photographs. Literally propaganda, purported to be "news".
