Hi, first of all you should relax a bit, it sounds as though your boyfriend has just got a regular cold and nothing too terrible. It seems as though you are doing a pretty good job of things already just by making sure he takes his meds and by showing you care. My fiance has just gotten over a pretty nasty viral infection ( serious cold ) and here is what we did to get him through it. He had to drink loads of water ( see, you're right ) to flush his system out, he had to take all his meds plus soothers for his throat and lemsips helped too. He also stayed in bed for a few days with a box of tissues beside him and I made sure he ate some good filling foods, hot soup etc. Other than that, I can't think of anything other than taking it easy. Remember there is no way to get rid of a cold other than time and so don't worry, just make things comfortable for him - good luck.

For cold you need lots of rest in bed. Sleep is good. You can fill a big bowl of hot water and drip some vicks and have him inhale the hot steam. Put his head over the bowl and cover his head with a towel, he might breath better. But be careful as the steam can be very hot on the face. For his sore throat make him fairly hot honey drink and squeeze a quarter of lemon. Just half a cup several times through out the day to sooth the throat. If he has a fever, bring fever down. Put cold cloth on his head, neck and underarmpits. It will a up to a week to get better.

Antibiotics won't help a cold, anyway.
There is no cure for the common cold.
Usually takes 3 days coming,
3 days there, and
3 days going....for a really bad cold.
VICKS on an old rag around the neck or rub it into the chest ...for the fumes....
Drink fluids to thin the mucus;
NO dairy, as this makes MORE mucus,
Aspirin or Tylenol for fever, if needed.
Try good ol Chicken noodle soup with as much hot sauce as he can stand. This will help open up the bronchial tubes and sinuses....( learned that in Mexico...)
Don't forget to wash hands all the time !

Try LOTS of vitamin C. You can't hardly give him too much of that. Either the supplements, or just lots of orange juice and tomato juice. Chicken soup helps, too.
Lots of warm baths will not only wash away the virus germs, but will also help loosen the congestion in his throat. Find some 12-hour nasal decongestant (sudafed, have to sign for it nowadays) or nasal spray if he will tolerate it. Mucinex is a great pill that helps loosen the throat gunk... takes the place of that nasty-tasting Robitussin. He doesn't need to go to the doctor unless he has had it over a week or so, and his ears are infected.
If you can get your hands on a vaporizer (about $20 from the drug store) that will help loosen things up and help him breathe, too. Good luck.

Let's review, he won't listen to what you say, twice. He'll never agree to going to the doctor. But you will try any incoming good advice. You might try using rope to tie him down, lodging his mouth open, pouring in medicine and hope for the best. I think you are dealing with a typical guy who's false pride is in the way of a cure. Good luck.

Dpends on if its allergies or cold? Does he have fever? try the Tylenol products, either Cold or Allergy. For a REAL quick natural cure try Echinacea, he'll need lot of water it will really dry him out. Have him eat as many chewable Vit C tabs as he can, the worst they can do is give him diareha, but a human can safely have 10,000mg a day. A very good drink is called E-Mer-Gen-C, you can get this at Wal Mart. My kids and I drink two a day, they are rarely sick, I increase at the slightest sign they may be getting there.

If he won't listen to you, then tell him to listen to this: The door slamming as you head out for a good'ole girls night out!
Hey, you're not married, and you sound way too motherish for someone who's not. Obvioulsy he's ungrateful, so go and live life!

oh he's being a man...
make him some chicken soup... orange juice.... hot chocolate.. fluff his pillow and make him watch some movies and force that soup down his neck.
men are stubborn when they get sick... just something you must enforce, he ain't going to do it himself.
juices, chicken soup... if he has any cravings...
of course you'll have to baby him i suppose.
:D
he'll live...
but you'll be miserable.

I have to nag my husband to get him to listen to me when he is sick. I made him feel guilty by saying something about me getting sick from him. He went to the doctor the next day.
