what are some how to do business books for newbs?

I will be taking over my dad's business in two years, and I really want to do some preparations.

I thought about working as a part time (on the weekend) at my dad's place, but his company is a bit complicated due to partnership and etc.

That's really great. Most people have to start from scratch. It's nice knowing you've got your dad's business.

My personal favorites are:

- "Dig Your Well Before You're Thirsty" by Harvey McKay
- "Swim with the Sharks without Getting Eaten Alive" by Harvey McKay
- "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyasaki
- "Sales Dogs" by Robert Kiyasaki
- "One Minute Manager"
- "One Minute Millionaire"
- "What Color is Your Parachute?"

I'd run out and buy a bunch of the "One Minute" books, and then add in "Who Moved My Cheese" by the same authors.

The series has great and easy to read books on Management, Sales, etc..

Who Moved My Cheese will help you to learn how to effectively manage change and embrace it. (Might want to get this for your employees also, the change from your Dad to You might be a major "change" for some of them.)

After that, spending time in the business, learning from your Dad, and from all the employees is a great idea. Study the business processes, research competitors to learn what you might be able to do better, talk to clients and find out what they need and like. After you've done that, you'll be ready to hit the ground RUNNING.
