Is there anything I can take to help me with the drainage. I am taking my Singulair (my doctor said that was ok) but that doesn't appear to help. I've taken Tylenol to help a little with my sinus pressure, but my face is still in pain. I'm not sleeping very well because of it. I'm a teacher and I'm worried about how stuffy I'm going to be at school tomorrow.

Saline nasal spray saved me when I was pregnant. My Dr. said I could take a tylenol pm too. That was later in the pregnancy though. I would check on that. I am attaching a list where you can check on OTC drugs and another that looks more comprehensive. But definately get the saline. I still use it!! :)

Very uncomfortable! I was told it was okay to take sudafed, but I held off as much as possible. It has the same effect on the baby as it does you, so it's actually not as bad to take the later you are in the pregnancy, although it is even fine in the beginning. Also try Vicks vaporub at night (the night is the worst!) and try a dehumidifier (you should get one for the baby if you don't have one already anyway!) You can get ones that also allow you to add some menthol oil in the top. Also there are sudaplugs now - they are really quite good for clearing some congestion. Drink lemon and honey water (hot) and if you are taking the day off school - add garlic! You might also try those nasal strips for snoring? I find they help when I have stuffy sinuses. Get well soon!

When I was pregnant I was told I could take plan Sudafed. Not the ones with add stuff like for night time or allergy but the plain red Sudafed. It will at least work as a decongestant, maybe help if you are getting sinus headaches, and will definitely relieve the pressure. Good Luck. Get well soon!

Thank you for asking this question! I have been suffering from a cold and sinus infection, not to mention pink eye. Thanks to my lovely 10 month old and her daycare. Anyway, I am now on amoxicillin for the sinus infection, but until now (2 weeks going) have not taken anything other than tylenol. I am going go and get some Robitussin and Sudafed right now!!

Try this: fill a sink or large bowl with water as hot as you can stand it, add 2-3 tablespoons of hot water and lower your face into the water, breath in and out gently through your nose. I can't stand the breathing in part, so I only breath out and it works for me even when nothing else does. Since there is no medication, you can do it as often as you need and continue until you get some relief.
Saline nasal sprays also work, but they make me nauseated, so I empty out the bottle and fill it with the salt water. Remember to change the water regularly though.
Also, sleep with your head elevated, mentholatum does wonders as well.

no sorry, there isnt. Tylenol is about it. I remember my first trimester I was sick alot, at one time I had bronchitis, sinus infection and and inner ear infection. Talk about dying..lol and I couldnt take anything for it because I was pregnant. I would ask for the day off and get some rest. I hope that you feel better!

Try peppermint or wintergreen for the congestion. Altoids work really good! For the cold...look for "Celestial Seasonings" wellness tea with zinc, echinacia, and vitamin C. If you dont like the taste of it, mix it with regular tea and drink it all day! I swear to you it works! When I FIRST start to feel a cold coming on, I dose up on it, and sometimes I don't get sick at all. At the very least, it will cut your recovery time in half. Also, green tea is great for prevention of colds. I've been doing this for ten years, and I rarely get colds...also I wash my hands alot. Good luck.

You can take Triaminic DN that should help. Also try the usual... Steaming, and maybe Vicks vapor rub. Just remember nothing with alcohol or antihistamine.
If you call the doctor's office and ask for the advice nurse she will have suggestions for you that are safe.
