I always drink lots of OJ and rest so your body can heal itself.
I have also found that before you actually get a cold, when you feel as though you may with a scratchy throat, or tickle in your throat buy ZICAM and take it according to the directions. I discovered this last year and it saved me from 2 colds!!
ZICAM is a homeopathic over the counter cold remedy that a friend recommended, you can find it at the drug store.

fluids and rest. zinc might have some small benefits.
im sure youre going to hear a lot of echinaciea and vitamin C; vitamin C has been proven to help prevent colds in people who are highly stressed (like soldiers in extreme conditions, endurance athletes, etc) but doesnt do much for the general population. most studies have found echinaciea doesnt really do anything.

i always take DayQuil capsules for the symtpoms.. and then take 1,000 mg of Vitamin C, echinacea tablets and zinc tablets to boost the immune system to help fight it. there's not really a "cure" for the cold-- you can only fight the symptoms.
a word of advice though: if you're healthy, and you know you're going to be in a place where lots of people are sick (work, school, public transportation, etc), try that product called Airborne... you can get it at Walmart or Target or any drug store. Mix one tablet with 8oz of water and drink up! Doesn't taste bad, doesn't taste great... but it'll definitely keep you from getting sick!

Lime or lemon juice in room temperature water, some sugar, for your cold, and your throat. An aspirin or Tylenol will do.
