Hi, I just made a couple copies of a dvd that my brother had made, using Disk Utility, it's in your utility folder, following these easy instructions. http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/making_dvd_copies.html

you'll need a program like toast. it allows you to burn any type of file into a dvd. it can be purchased for under $100. check apple website, compusa, or fry's.
here's the basics:
-if the dvd is like any you'd buy at the store (put in player and dvd program plays it automatically) you'll need ripping software. i use a program called dvd backup. see link below.
-dvdbackup will rip the dvd files and give you a 'video_ts' file. this file contains everything you need to burn the dvd.
-idvd will not burn video_ts files.
-once you have the video_ts file just drag it into toast and burn the dvd.
-if you want to test it out without wasting a dvd you can 'save as disc image' this creates the dvd as a playable file. it will be just like a dvd but in a file on your computer instead of on the disc. you can later burn this file to create a dvd.

please feel free to e-mail me if you have any further questions. i'm a long time mac user.

i don't have a mac, but i do use burning programs. DVD decrypter works good, as well as DVDFab express version. You can use dvd shrink and nero 6.0 or better to burn them.

The quality will also be the exact same as the original, no loss.

Hope this helps.
