For the moment when they are typing the answer, that person offering the silly answer may be laughing to him/herself. The sad part is that moment of typing may be the only moment that person laughed all day.

How can people know your standard about silliness and seriousness?
Is it serious to conclude that the answers of many people on here are silly?
Perhaps, the better way is to tell oneself not to act like them; yes, just keep to be serious and polite. I have reread this answer to make sure that it is serious and I want to say apology if it is still not really polite.

I agree! Some questions may seem silly but are serious. Hard to tell sometimes. i give the answer I feel is good but don't think I have ever left a stupid or silly answer

I think people are just trying to gather the points. I want to be serious about answering these questions.

Everybody wants to be a comedian, a jackass or a wet blanket at some point. For example a woman wanted to know her 'date' but she couldn't remember her last period.....so I told her that a little light comes on in her belly button. I guess that I was trying to say that she shouldn't be serious about that....the doctor will know....maybe she laughed....maybe she got irked at me...who knows...there's all kinds on this site...try not to be too thin skinned...plus I got the two points.

Some people think serious is boring - some are natural born jokers or whatever - I just shrug off some of the rediculous comments that people make - its not worth the added stress

I think it's pathetic to ask serious questions to a group of strangers, and expect serious answers.Don't you realize that this is a form of amusement for most people.

Many Philosophical questions have no right answer.
Many personal advice questions can't possibly be answered based on a two sentence description of the situation.
Sometimes your first reaction to a question is funny.
This question had nothing funny about it...................
