Penitum 4 is a better energy efficient. After not using a whil, the cpu goes into safe mode, and that;ll use less engery and less cpu usage. Also brings down the heat.

AND YEA TURN THE LAPTOP OFF LOL ULL MAKE THE BATTERY AND CPU RUNNER HOTTER IF ITS ON FOR LONG.

are you plugged into the Internet? broadband or wireless? if yes then you should not leave your computer on
if you have dial-up and you're not connected then OK
if you're plugged into your ac adapter then OK

you should still turn your computer off once daily then restart. this allows your computer to reset and not load up your memory. with the new OS it's not so bad like it was with win 98/me. 2000 and xp are not so bad.

Cmon. Off.

Go to the control panel and select Power Options.

Select Enable Hibernation

Set Hibernation to occur when you close the lid.

That way it goes straight back to where you were.

If I will be using my laptop throughout the day, I just press stand by. But when I am away or at night before bed it goes off.
